Leo Express launches Prague‑Munich service; Poland plans Krakow‑Budapest rail link

Leo Express will begin operating a new international service on the Prague‑Plzeň‑Domažlice‑Munich route starting 13 December, replacing Czech Railways on that line. The modernised express trains will offer air‑conditioning, Wi‑Fi and onboard catering to attract more travelers to Bavaria.

Poland’s Ministry of Infrastructure is preparing a new long‑distance rail line (designated P58) that will connect Krakow with Budapest via Nowy Sącz, Prešov and Košice, with an expected start in December 2027. The project involves modernising and electrifying sections of track in Poland and Slovakia, aiming for a travel time of roughly three to three‑and‑a‑half hours between Krakow and Košice.
