Leon Black and Bill Gates Testify Before U.S. House Oversight Committee on Epstein Links

Investor Leon Black, co‑founder of Apollo Global Management, is scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee after Senator Ron Wyland demanded answers about roughly $170 million in payments he made to Jeffrey Epstein between 2012 and 2017. Black’s attorneys maintain the payments were for estate‑planning and tax advice, and an internal Apollo probe found no evidence that Black knew of Epstein’s criminal conduct.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates testified earlier in June, stating that Epstein tried to leverage knowledge of Gates’s extramarital affairs to pressure him, but that the effort failed. Gates denied any payments to Epstein and said their limited interactions focused on potential philanthropic donor structures. Both testimonies are part of the committee’s broader investigation into the late financier’s network and its connections to high‑profile individuals.
