Leonardo da Vinci cycling journey concludes in Amboise

A thousand-kilometer cycling journey titled ‘Da Vinci ad Amboise’ has concluded at the Château du Clos Lucé in the Loire Valley. The expedition, which began on August 17 in Vinci, Italy, aimed to symbolically connect Leonardo da Vinci’s birthplace with Amboise, France, where the polymath spent his final years before passing away in 1519.

Five cyclists—Gianni Vinci, Marco Volpi, Giovanna Dolfi, Nicola Vaccari, and Paolo Emilio Pontenani—traversed Northern Italy, the Aosta Valley, Switzerland, and various French regions, including Burgundy and the Morvan. The route served as a cultural bridge, documenting landscapes, history, and European heritage through daily video and photo updates shared by the Leonardo Da Vinci Heritage APS.

The group was welcomed at their destination by Jacques de Tarragon, director of Clos Lucé, and members of the Vinci-Amboise twinning committee.
