Leonardo Marcos Imputed in Leire Díez Corruption Probe
Judge Santiago Pedraz of Spain's Audiencia Nacional has ordered that former Guardia Civil director Leonardo Marcos be cited as an investigated party in the case concerning alleged attempts to obstruct judicial processes affecting the PSOE and the government, linked to ex‑militant socialist Leire Díez. The imputation follows a popular prosecution filed by the Partido Popular requesting that Marcos be formally charged.
Pedraz also summoned other officials, including current Guardia Civil director Mercedes González, the deputy director operational Manuel Llamas, and Badajoz chief prosecutor José Luis Alonso as a witness. Former UCO chief Rafael Yuste testified that he received pressure from Marcos and Llamas to limit the investigation into David Sánchez, brother of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. The judge warned that if a competence dispute with the Madrid Instruction Court is not resolved by early September, he will refer the matter to the Supreme Court.
