Leopard sightings cause panic in Baramulla residential areas
In Baramulla, repeated sightings of at least two leopards in densely populated residential areas have caused significant panic among residents. Over the last 10 days, the animals have been spotted in locations including Microwave Colony, Kanlibagh, and Sangri.
Residents report that the leopards have preyed on at least two sheep and have disrupted daily life, particularly during the morning and evening hours. Local families have expressed concerns regarding the safety of children and the elderly, with some residents noting that the animals have been seen on the boundary walls of homes. Citizens are urging the Wildlife Department to increase surveillance and capture the animals to prevent human attacks.
