Les Fontaines nursing homes face renewed allegations of care deficiencies

Families of approximately 240 residents at the Les Fontaines private nursing homes in Haut-Rhin, France, have alerted authorities to renewed concerns regarding care deficiencies and staffing shortages. The facilities, located in Horbourg-Wihr, Kembs, and Lutterbach, are operated by the group Cortille (formerly Bridge).

On August 12, a delegation of families met with the CEA and the ARS Grand Est to report serious dysfunctions. Specific allegations include chronic understaffing, such as one nurse for 80 residents at one site and only two nursing assistants for 70 residents during a weekend in August. Families also reported difficulties in obtaining medical assessments and geriatric reviews for residents, many of whom suffer from Alzheimer's disease.
