Leskovac tractor crash: suspect detained after fatal accident

On 15 July 2026, around 17:00, S. S., a resident of Čukljenik, operated an IMT 539 tractor without a driving licence on an unclassified forest‑agricultural road near the village of Tulovo, close to Leskovac, Serbia. He lost control of the vehicle and the front of the tractor struck pedestrian D. M., also from Čukljenik, who was walking ahead of the tractor. D. M. suffered multiple severe injuries and died at the scene.

The Basic Court in Leskovac issued a ruling on 17 July 2026 ordering a preventive detention of up to 30 days for S. S., citing concerns that he might influence yet‑unexamined witnesses and obstruct the criminal procedure. He has been charged with a serious violation of public safety that caused a death. The decision may be appealed to the court's criminal appellate panel within three days of receipt.
