Lewis Hamilton discusses potential F1 grid penalties
Lewis Hamilton has expressed uncertainty regarding potential grid penalties for the remainder of the Formula 1 season. While some reports suggest he may face a penalty due to excessive engine component usage, Hamilton told media that he currently does not foresee needing one. He noted that his recent retirement in Madrid resulted in lower mileage on his available components, which may help his situation.
However, Hamilton acknowledged that engine performance degrades over time, and a decision regarding new power units will be made later in the year. Ferrari is also monitoring the situation for Charles Leclerc, who may face a penalty if his power unit from the Italian Grand Prix cannot be salvaged. The team continues to work on improvements as they look toward upcoming races, including the United States Grand Prix.
