Lewis Hamilton receives five‑second penalty for false start at British Grand Prix
At the Silverstone British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton was handed a five‑second time penalty after race stewards concluded his car moved after the third red light but before the start signal, a breach of Article B5.11.1 that defines a false start. On‑board video showed the tyre sticker shift, although Ferrari’s sensors recorded no movement.
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur said the sensors showed no motion and described the penalty as "a bit harsh," noting the car only moved a few millimetres. Hamilton later said his hand moved unintentionally. The penalty dropped him from second to third place in the race.
