Lewotobi Laki‑Laki volcano erupts in Indonesia, ash plume reaches 1,000 m
Gunung Lewotobi Laki‑Laki in Flores Timur, Nusa Tenggara Timur, erupted on 10 June 2026 at 05:23 WITA and again on 11 June 2026 at 12:43 WITA. The eruption sent an ash column about 1,000 metres above the summit (≈2,584 m above sea level) toward the west‑northwest. Seismographs recorded amplitudes of 24.4 mm and 44.4 mm, with durations of roughly three minutes and 67 seconds respectively.
The volcanic centre is currently classified as Level III (Siaga). Authorities urged residents and visitors to stay at least 5 km from the vent, wear masks to avoid respiratory irritation, and remain alert for possible rain‑triggered lahars that could affect downstream rivers.
PV BMG continues to monitor the volcano and advises the public to follow local government directives and avoid unverified information.
