SanDisk and Lexar release new portable SSD and storage solutions

SanDisk and Lexar have introduced new portable storage solutions aimed at mobile professionals, content creators, and smartphone users.

SanDisk has launched the Extreme Portable SSD, which is available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities. The device features a compact design, measuring 85 x 51 x 9.8mm and weighing 46.9g, making it approximately 10 percent smaller than its predecessor. It offers advertised read speeds of up to 2,000MB/s via a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface and includes password protection for data security.

Lexar has introduced the SL500 Portable SSD, designed to support high-resolution mobile content creation. The SL500 is rated for read speeds up to 2,000 MB/s and write speeds up to 1,800 MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. This device is positioned to help users manage large data footprints from 4K video and high-resolution photography by allowing for quick offloading from smartphones to other devices like iPads or MacBooks.
