Lexar unveils Muse Ultra-Slim Portable SSD at IFA 2026

At IFA 2026 in Berlin, Lexar, a storage brand under Longsys, unveiled the Muse Ultra-Slim Portable SSD, described as the world’s thinnest portable SSD. The device features a unibody metal enclosure with a thickness ranging from 1 mm at the edges to 3.8 mm at its thickest point. Due to its extreme slimness, the drive lacks a traditional USB-C port.

Instead, Lexar utilizes a proprietary PogoPin contact system on the back of the device. Connection to computers, tablets, or smartphones is achieved via the included SnapLink Magnetic Cable, which uses N52 neodymium magnets to align the PogoPins to a USB-C connector. The product is designed to sit flush against the back of a phone and includes a magnetic sleeve compatible with MagSafe-enabled iPhones.

The Muse SSD offers read speeds of up to 1,050 MB/s and write speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s. It is capable of supporting Apple ProRes 4K/120fps video recording on compatible iPhones. The drive will be available in 512GB and 1TB capacities, with a scheduled release between October and December 2026.
