Lexus Announces Electric LFA Hypercar and New ES Luxury Sedan
Lexus said its next‑generation LFA hypercar will be an all‑electric model built on a lightweight aluminium architecture and equipped with solid‑state batteries that promise much higher energy density than conventional cells. The prototype, based on Toyota’s GR GT platform, is aimed at preserving the driving feel of the original LFA while avoiding artificial engine‑sound simulations. General Manager Yukihiro Yukita highlighted the challenge of convincing traditional performance‑car buyers and set a target launch for 2027.
At the same time, Lexus unveiled the eighth‑generation ES as a fully electric luxury sedan. Developed on the upgraded K platform, the car blends a "Clean Tech x Elegance" design philosophy with aerodynamic refinements, a new spindle‑style front grille and hidden interior switches. The ES will be showcased in a Cyprus showroom in early September, with orders now open for the market.
