Lexus expands electric and hybrid lineup with ES and RZ models

Lexus has expanded its electric and hybrid offerings with the launch of the eighth-generation ES in New Zealand and reviews of the RZ, the brand’s first purpose-built electric model.

The new ES range in New Zealand includes the ES 300h hybrid and the all-electric ES 500e Dynamic. The electric flagship features a 74.69kWh lithium-ion battery, E-Four all-wheel drive, and an estimated WLTP range of 465km. Prices for the ES range start at $96,900 for the hybrid models and reach $109,900 for the electric version. The new ES model is larger than its predecessor, offering increased length and height.

Separately, the Lexus RZ is noted as the brand’s first premium vehicle designed from the ground up as an all-electric model. The RZ features a high-quality interior and a steer-by-wire yoke-style steering wheel on certain trims. While praised for its interior space and ten-year warranty, reviews note the 150 kW DC charging speed is merely satisfactory and point out the lack of a front trunk.
