Lexus launches all‑new 2026 ES sedan with hybrid and BEV variants

Lexus unveiled the eighth‑generation ES sedan on 11 June 2026, introducing a broadened lineup that includes a hybrid ES 350h and two battery‑electric models. The BEV range comprises a front‑wheel‑drive ES 350e delivering 224 hp and up to 670 km (WLTC) on a single charge, and a dual‑motor AWD ES 500e rated at 342 hp with a 0‑100 km/h time of about 5.5 seconds and a 636 km range.

The new ES is larger than its predecessor, measuring 5.14 m long, 1.92 m wide and up to 1.56 m high, with a wheelbase of 2.95 m. Design cues follow Lexus’s “Provocative Simplicity” language, featuring a low‑center‑of‑gravity body, new “SOU” paint for the electric models, and an upscale cabin equipped with a 14‑inch touchscreen, Mark Levinson 17‑speaker audio, and optional rear‑seat comfort packages such as adjustable ottomans and massage functions. Prices in Japan start at ¥7.9 million for the ES 350e and ¥8.3 million for the ES 500e, with higher‑trim versions reaching ¥9.2 million.

The launch marks Lexus’s first full‑model refresh in eight years and positions the ES as a flagship offering in the brand’s move toward electrified premium sedans.
