Lexus prepares 2027 NX SUV facelift with hybrid focus

Lexus has released teaser footage and details regarding the upcoming mid-cycle refresh of its popular NX SUV, scheduled for a global debut on September 1. The 2027 model year update focuses on significant design and technological enhancements.

Externally, the NX will adopt a more aggressive aesthetic inspired by the larger RX model, featuring a redesigned spindle grille and new LED headlight signatures with horizontal elements. The side profile and general proportions are expected to remain largely unchanged, though new color options, such as a specific green hue, and dark multi-spoke alloy wheels will be available.

The interior is set for a major overhaul to align with the brand’s latest design language seen in the ES sedan. Key updates include a redesigned steering wheel featuring 'LEXUS' lettering instead of the traditional 'L' emblem, a more minimalist dashboard, and improved climate control interfaces. The infotainment system is expected to feature a large touchscreen, potentially up to 14 inches, utilizing updated software.

Mechanically, the update signals a shift toward electrification. Reports indicate that Lexus may phase out traditional gasoline-only engines, such as the NX 250, in favor of a lineup consisting exclusively of hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. The PHEV variants are expected to offer significantly extended electric-only driving ranges.
