Lexus shifts NX SUV lineup to hybrid and PHEV-only models

Lexus has confirmed the discontinuation of the petrol-powered NX350, transitioning the mid-size premium SUV lineup to exclusively hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. In its Japanese market, the brand is also phasing out the petrol-powered LS Limousine ahead of a planned update for the flagship sedan.

In Australia, the NX range will now consist of the NX350h hybrid and the NX450h+ plug-in hybrid. This shift follows a significant decline in petrol-powered NX sales in the region, which dropped from over 50% in 2022 and 2023 to 16.8% in 2025. If these changes extend to the Australian market, the NX and LS would join the LM and UX models in being offered solely with hybrid options.
