Lexus to End UX Production by February 2027, Successor Unannounced

Japanese automaker Lexus will halt production of its compact luxury SUV, the UX, in February 2027, according to reports from Creative Trend. The final model will be the Shining Essence special edition, marking the end of a line that began in 2018. Lexus has not confirmed a replacement, though the brand recently introduced the smaller LBX crossover in late 2023, positioning it below the NX in its lineup.

The UX has sold roughly 400,000 units in more than 80 markets worldwide. In Australia, the model peaked in 2023 with 2,468 deliveries; in the first half of the current year, 509 units were sold, a 4.1% decline year‑on‑year. The petrol‑only UX200 ceased production in 2023 and the electric UX300e was discontinued in 2025, leaving the hybrid UX300h as the sole variant.

Lexus has not indicated whether the Shining Essence edition will be offered in Australia, and it remains uncertain how the brand will fill the gap left by the UX in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.
