Lexus unveils eighth-generation ES luxury sedan with new electric models

Lexus has unveiled the eighth generation of its flagship ES luxury sedan, marking a significant shift toward electrification. The new lineup includes both hybrid (HEV) and battery-electric (BEV) options, with the BEV models featuring advanced technology and expanded dimensions compared to the previous generation.

In Japan, the top-tier BEV models include the ES350e Rr Comfort package, a front-wheel-drive model focused on rear-seat luxury with features such as an electric leg rest, and the ES500e Version L, an all-wheel-drive model delivering 342 horsepower and a 0–100 km/h acceleration of 5.5 seconds. The interior introduces “Responsive Hidden Switches,” which remain invisible within the upholstery until the vehicle is powered on, and “Bamboo Layering” decorative trim.

In the United Kingdom, Lexus is positioning the new ES exclusively as a battery-electric model, starting with the ES 350e. This model features a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery, a 14-inch touchscreen, and aerodynamic enhancements such as an underbody cover and active grille shutters to maximize range and efficiency.
