Lexus unveils new NX compact SUV with enhanced electrification

Lexus has unveiled the new NX, a redesigned compact crossover SUV that marks a significant shift toward electrification. The updated lineup will move away from pure gasoline engines, instead utilizing the new e-Axle hybrid system for both hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.

A standout feature is the ‘Sensory Concierge’ system, which synchronizes illumination, music, climate control, and fragrance to create personalized cabin atmospheres. The vehicle offers five distinct scents, with three cartridges capable of being used simultaneously via a dispenser in the glovebox.

While the exterior features a redesigned mesh spindle grille and ‘Double L’ signature rear lamps, regional specifications will vary. In North America, the PHEV model is expected to offer over 40 miles of EV range, whereas the Japanese market anticipates a WLTC range exceeding 140 km. The Japanese lineup is also expected to include a new 2.0L hybrid front-wheel-drive NX300h entry model. Global sales are scheduled to begin sequentially starting in late 2026.
