Lexus unveils updated NX SUV with enhanced hybrid technology

Lexus has unveiled an updated version of its NX compact luxury SUV, focusing on enhanced electrification, performance, and interior technology. The new model features significant upgrades to its hybrid systems, specifically targeting improved efficiency and driving dynamics.

The plug-in hybrid variant, the NX 450h+, sees its battery capacity increased from 18 kWh to 23 kWh, enabling an electric-only range exceeding 100 kilometers. This model also introduces DC fast-charging capabilities for the first time in a Lexus plug-in hybrid, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. The combined output of the plug-in system has risen to 307 horsepower.

The standard hybrid NX 350h also receives updates through Lexus’s sixth-generation hybrid technology, which utilizes a more compact and lightweight power control unit. Structural improvements include a 25% increase in chassis stiffness and refined suspension settings developed at the Nürburgring.

Interior updates include a modern horizontal design concept and a ‘sensory concierge’ feature that adjusts cabin lighting and aroma to user preferences. The exterior features a redesigned Spindle grille and updated lighting signatures. The updated NX lineup is expected to enter global markets in stages starting in late 2026.
