LG CNS and Naver Cloud to deploy liquid cooling at Samsong Data Center

LG CNS and Naver Cloud are collaborating to implement next-generation liquid cooling infrastructure at the Samsong Data Center in Goyang, South Korea. The project focuses on Direct Chip Cooling (DTC) technology, which attaches cooling plates containing circulating liquid directly to GPU chips to absorb heat more efficiently than traditional air cooling.

This transition is driven by the rising power density of high-performance GPU servers required for generative AI. While traditional air cooling typically handles 20–30kW per rack, modern high-performance GPU racks can exceed 200kW. The new infrastructure is designed to support the stable operation of NVIDIA’s next-generation ‘Vera Rubin’ GPU, owned by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).

LG CNS will provide integrated services including design, construction, and operation (DBO), covering cooling systems, GPU server environments, and power supply frameworks. Naver Cloud intends to utilize this infrastructure to provide high-performance AI services to public institutions and corporate clients. The companies aim to complete the construction and verification of the liquid cooling infrastructure by next year.
