LG Electronics advances Micro-LED and automotive display technology

LG Electronics is advancing its display technologies through new commercial products and specialized automotive development. The company has introduced the MAGNIT Gen 2 Micro-LED display, designed for professional and commercial installations. A key technical upgrade is the use of SFP+ fiber optic transmission, which extends signal reach to 6.2 miles, a significant increase from the previous 328-foot limit. The display features 1,500 nits brightness, a 40,000:1 contrast ratio, and supports HDR10 and HLG formats.

In the automotive sector, LG Electronics is reportedly developing a large, curved Center Information Display (CID) for Porsche. This project, funded by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy through 2028, utilizes a combination of OLED and LCD technologies. The LCD component is designed with a switchable viewing angle, allowing the driver and passenger to see different content on the same screen. LG Electronics is leading the assembly of the CID, utilizing panels from its Chinese subsidiary and integrating specialized controllers and software.
