LG Uplus pivots to AI and data center infrastructure

LG Uplus is shifting its strategic focus toward AI and data center infrastructure to secure future growth. Following a history of integrating various telecommunications entities—including Daycom, Powercom, and LG Telecom—the company has evolved into a comprehensive provider covering mobile, home, and enterprise infrastructure.

Despite currently ranking third among South Korea’s major mobile carriers, LG Uplus has narrowed the gap through proactive R&D investments in LTE and 5G technologies. The company’s wireless subscriber market share, including MVNO users, is projected to reach 27.6% by the end of 2025.

As part of a broader analysis of corporate sustainability, the company’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance is being examined through the lens of the Economic Justice Index (KEJI). This analysis aims to evaluate whether the company can effectively transition its capital from the mature telecommunications market into meaningful R&D and future growth engines.
