LG Uplus technology and service expansions

Overview

LG Uplus has introduced new technology solutions focused on security and automated management. At the ISEC 2026 conference, the company presented an integrated security portfolio for enterprise clients. This ‘Telco-Native’ strategy includes cloud-based identity management via AlphaKey, the U+SASE network integration platform, and a Cloud Security Pack featuring AI-driven ransomware detection for small and medium-sized enterprises. Building on these security developments, the company launched ‘AI Building Net by ixi’, an integrated building management solution. This platform utilizes artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) devices—including sensors, CCTV, and robots—to optimize facility operations in offices, commercial spaces, and residences. A specialized ‘Wellness Note’ service for senior care facilities is currently being piloted at Shinhan Life Care’s premium nursing home, ‘Solace Home Misa’. This service uses AI to monitor real-time health data and lifestyle patterns from care-related IoT devices, allowing managers to track resident status and automate administrative tasks via a dedicated app. Expanding its AIoT applications to industrial infrastructure, LG Uplus signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea District Heating Corporation to enhance safety management for district energy facilities. The partnership aims to establish a predictive maintenance system to detect hazards like ground subsidence and pipe corrosion. Technical implementations include using tilt-sensing technology to identify micro-subsidence and monitoring electrical signals to detect stray currents. The companies, who previously collaborated on IoT temperature sensors in 2020, also plan to apply AI-based physical security to monitor power distribution rooms 24/7. In response to immediate mobile threats, LG Uplus launched a 24-hour AI-driven security monitoring system using ‘Secure. AI+’ technology to combat smishing and phishing attacks during the Chuseok holiday. Operating from its Magok office, the system proactively identifies and blocks control servers used by malicious applications to prevent mobile devices from becoming ‘zombie phones’.
