LGBTQ+ visibility events held in Sangerhausen and Arnsberg

Multiple regions in Germany are hosting Christopher Street Day (CSD) events to promote diversity and LGBTQ+ visibility.

In Sangerhausen, the Mansfeld-Südharz CSD took place on June 27, 2026, under the motto “Bunte Familie” (Colorful Family). The event was designed as a peaceful, intergenerational festival focused on community and exchange. Despite extreme temperatures of approximately 38 degrees Celsius and the presence of a far-right counter-demonstration nearby, the festival remained orderly. Participants and local organizations used the event to advocate for human rights, democracy, and against discrimination.

Arnsberg is also preparing for its inaugural CSD on August 22. Organized by the association offen. bund Arnsberg under the motto “Queer. Stark. Hier” (Queer. Strong. Here), the event will feature a demonstration and rally. The program includes musical performances, speeches from local officials, and information booths from regional initiatives and counseling centers dedicated to equality and queer visibility in the Sauerland region.
