LH to begin construction on Yongin semiconductor complex in October

The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced that construction for the first phase of the Yongin Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex is scheduled to begin in October. The project covers approximately 7.78 million square meters in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, and will feature six semiconductor fabrication plants (fabs), facilities for materials, parts, and equipment companies, three power generation facilities, and industrial gas supply infrastructure.

To meet the goal of breaking ground on the first semiconductor fab by 2028, LH has accelerated administrative procedures and bidding processes. Land compensation for private property is nearly complete, with 99% of the target area having undergone procedures, including 43% through negotiated acquisition and 56% through applications for expropriation rulings.

Preliminary works, such as logging, cultural heritage surveys, and the removal of obstacles, are set to begin this month. LH aims to finalize all compensation processes within the year and continues to seek ways to further shorten construction timelines through parallel processing of tasks.
