Li Qiang visits Tangshan to inspect disaster prevention capabilities

Chinese Premier Li Qiang visited Tangshan in Hebei Province to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Tangshan earthquake and to inspect disaster prevention and mitigation efforts. During his visit, Li paid respects at the Tangshan Earthquake Memorial Park, honoring those who perished in the disaster and those who died during rescue operations.

Li emphasized the importance of improving monitoring, early warning, emergency response, and post-disaster reconstruction mechanisms to protect lives and property. He visited a nursing home for earthquake survivors and an emergency rescue base, stressing the need for regular training, technological support in rescue equipment, and enhanced public awareness of disaster prevention.

Additionally, Li noted the current critical period for flood prevention and urged authorities to strengthen monitoring, prepare sufficient supplies, and ensure rapid, scientific responses to potential disasters.
