Liberec Region launches organ heritage concert series

The Liberec Region will host a six‑concert series titled “Putování za varhanními skvosty Libereckého kraje” (Journey through the organ treasures of the Liberec Region). Each concert will take place in a different historic church, showcasing restored pipe organs that are considered cultural landmarks. The programme combines live performances by leading classical musicians with narrated histories of the churches, their architecture, and the instruments.

The project received a 100,000‑Czech‑koruna grant from the regional government. Deputy Governor for Culture Květa Vinklátová said the concerts will “highlight the unique value of historic organs and the need for their preservation.” Opus Organum director Kateřina Málková added that the organs are “the voice of the landscape and a testament to craftsmanship and history.” Performers include violinist Tereza Horáková, opera singer Josef Kovačič and singer‑historian Jiří Bartoloměj Sturz, among others.
