Liberia advances governance, peace, and diplomatic initiatives
Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai is spearheading several initiatives focused on national stability, governance, and international diplomacy. At the United Nations in New York, Boakai launched the Third National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security, emphasizing the critical role of women as architects of peace and governance.
Domestically, the Governance Commission has announced a month-long series of activities for October, designated as Liberia’s Month of Good Governance. This program, themed ‘Promoting Accountability and Transparency in Government or Governance’, will include a national dialogue, a public march, and integrity awards to foster public awareness of institutional accountability.
On the diplomatic front, President Boakai engaged in high-level discussions at the White House to strengthen ties with the United States, focusing on economic stability and humanitarian cooperation. Additionally, former Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah advocated for dialogue and impartial justice at an international peace summit, while President Boakai called for national unity and increased diaspora partnership during an event in Maryland, USA.
Furthermore, Liberia has been confirmed as the host for the 4th CoSPAL General Assembly in December 2026, which will bring together African parliamentary leaders to discuss legislative measures for enhancing intra-African trade.
