Liberia and UNDP partner to advance decentralization and development financing

The Government of Liberia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have entered into renewed strategic partnerships to advance decentralization and sustainable development financing across the country.

In Monrovia, the Ministry of Local Government and the UNDP reaffirmed their commitment to improving local governance and service delivery. Key objectives include modernizing County Service Centers, expanding digital governance, and transforming County Development Agendas into comprehensive County Investment Plans to drive local economic growth. The partnership also aims to support peacebuilding, reconciliation, and the potential establishment of a National Museum of Liberia.

Simultaneously, the Government of Liberia and the UNDP launched a Core Technical Committee (CTC) to update the nation’s Development Finance Assessment (DFA). This committee will provide technical guidance to develop a financing strategy for sustainable and inclusive development. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, seeks to align public and private financing with national priorities through an Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF).
