Liberia launches digital collateral registry and advances domain control

Liberia has introduced several digital infrastructure reforms aimed at enhancing economic growth and national digital sovereignty.

The Central Bank of Liberia launched an upgraded Enhanced Collateral Registry System in Monrovia. This digital platform allows lenders to verify ownership and existing claims against movable and immovable assets in real time. By connecting with the National Identification Registry, Liberia Land Authority, and vehicle-registration authorities, the system aims to reduce lending risks and help entrepreneurs use assets like equipment and land to secure financing.

Simultaneously, the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) is advancing the redelegation process for the .lr country code top-level domain. This initiative seeks to strengthen national control and security over the country’s digital identity. The proposed framework involves policy oversight from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and technical management by the Liberian Internet Domain Registry, supported by a Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Council.
