Liberia marks International Day of Peace with diplomatic summit and youth calls for unity

Former Liberian Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah Sr. has been invited to deliver a keynote address at the 2026 International Day of Peace conference. Organized by the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), the virtual summit will convene from Istanbul and Geneva under the theme, “Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.” Kemayah will join a platform of international figures, including former heads of state and diplomats from Pakistan, Mauritius, Ecuador, Nepal, Guinea-Bissau, and the Maldives, to discuss global conflicts and pathways to stability.

In Liberia, Moses N. Buwee, founder of the African Youth Fellowship (AYF-Liberia), has issued a call to action for the nation's youth to protect the country's peace. Commemorating the International Day of Peace, Buwee urged young citizens to ensure that political affiliations do not cause national division. He emphasized the importance of using social media responsibly to promote dialogue and reject misinformation, hatred, or violence, stressing that national unity must remain a priority over political differences.
