Liberia Revenue Authority hits US$1 billion in domestic revenue

The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has reached a domestic revenue milestone of US$1 billion. The National Port Authority (NPA) reported that approximately US$215 million of this total was collected through customs operations at Liberian ports, attributing the success to investments in 24-hour operations, faster gate services, and reduced truck turnaround times.

Separately, at the 8th West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) in Accra, Ghana, LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah called for deeper regional tax integration. He advocated for a unified approach across West Africa, proposing a ‘one rulebook’ for harmonized tax rules on transfer pricing and the digital economy, a ‘one data space’ for cross-border information exchange, and a unified voice against illicit financial flows to address the complexities of integrated trade and digital commerce.
