Liberia Revenue Authority nears US$1 billion revenue milestone
The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has collected US$954.7 million in revenue for Fiscal Year 2026 as of Wednesday morning. LRA Commissioner-General James Dorbor Jallah announced the figure during a review meeting in Monrovia, noting that the government is positioned to surpass the US$1 billion domestic revenue milestone before the end of September 2026.
The authority has set a total domestic revenue target of US$1.3 billion for the full 2026 fiscal year. To reach these goals and reduce dependence on external assistance, the government is implementing new tax collection mechanisms, including electronic fiscal devices designed to reduce leakages, improve compliance, and simplify filing processes.
Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan emphasized that strong revenue performance is essential for financing national development priorities and providing the Boakai administration with increased fiscal room to implement its national agenda.
