Liberia and Gambia sign pact for digital revenue dashboard
The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) and the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) have signed a Memorandum of Engagement to enhance digital revenue administration. During the 8th West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) in Accra, Ghana, the two agencies agreed on a framework for technical cooperation focused on developing a Revenue Collection Dashboard prototype for The Gambia.
Under the agreement, the LRA will provide technical assistance, including assessing existing data systems, identifying performance indicators, and advising on dashboard architecture. To facilitate knowledge transfer, the LRA will deploy Jupar Dunbar, Assistant Commissioner for Enterprise Data Analytics, to The Gambia for an initial three-week assignment to help build a prototype tailored to Gambian systems and train local personnel.
Separately, at the same WATAF forum, regional leaders emphasized the need for deeper tax integration across West Africa. Liberia’s Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah called for harmonized tax rules and a unified data space to address cross-border challenges, digital commerce, and illicit financial flows. Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, also advocated for stronger regional cooperation to protect domestic revenue and provide African nations with a more coordinated voice in the global tax system.
