Liberia's Foreign Minister visits India to strengthen bilateral ties
Liberian Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti arrived in New Delhi for a two-day official visit to strengthen bilateral ties with India. During the visit, she met with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to review cooperation in sectors including technology, agriculture, health, mining, energy, trade, and education.
A key highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the new Liberian Embassy in New Delhi. The leaders also discussed multilateralism and the importance of reforms within the United Nations Security Council, emphasizing the need to strengthen the voice of the Global South.
The visit coincides with a Liberian parliamentary delegation's presence in India for a peer-learning mission focused on women's empowerment and governance. This mission, supported by UN Women, involves sharing Indian developmental experiences such as the Jan-Dhan Yojana and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana. Additionally, Liberia continues to benefit from India's duty-free tariff preference scheme for exports such as rubber, timber, and vegetable oils.
