Liberty Global acquires VodafoneZiggo stake to form Ziggo Group

Liberty Global has completed the purchase of Vodafone's 50% share in VodafoneZiggo for roughly €1 billion, creating a new Benelux telecom operator called Ziggo Group. The combined entity brings together VodafoneZiggo in the Netherlands with Telenet in Belgium and Luxembourg, serving about 13 million customers and generating €6.6 billion in annual revenue.

Liberty Global will hold a 90% ownership stake while Vodafone retains 10% and receives cash and equity in the new group. Stephen van Rooyen, former CEO of VodafoneZiggo, will lead Ziggo Group as CEO, with Jany Fruytier appointed CFO. The merger will not change brands, products, prices or contracts for customers in the short term.

Liberty Global plans to list Ziggo Group on the Amsterdam stock exchange in 2027 and is preparing asset disposals worth €1.2‑1.4 billion to reduce debt.
