Ziggo Group formation and expansion
Overview
In early August 2026, Liberty Global completed the purchase of Vodafone’s 50 % stake in VodafoneZiggo for about €1 billion, creating the Ziggo Group—a Benelux telecom operator that combines VodafoneZiggo in the Netherlands with Telenet in Belgium and Luxembourg. Liberty Global will own 90 % of the new entity, with Vodafone retaining 10 % and receiving cash and equity. The group plans an Amsterdam IPO in 2027 and is preparing asset disposals to lower debt.
A few days later, Ziggo announced a partnership with Delta Fiber to extend its internet and TV services to roughly 680,000 additional addresses across the Netherlands. By using Delta Fiber’s existing network, Ziggo will reach regions such as Twente, Zeeland, Westland and parts of Gouda and Aalsmeer, shifting from building its own cable to sharing fiber infrastructure. The rollout, starting 20 August, aims to broaden consumer choice and increase competition in the Dutch broadband market.
