Libyan delegation holds energy and investment talks in Riyadh

A delegation from Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) held a series of bilateral meetings in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to discuss energy cooperation and international investment. The delegation engaged with OPEC+ officials to address global oil market stability, supply security, and the impact of rising transportation and insurance costs on energy flows.

In discussions with Saudi Arabian officials, the delegation explored the creation of a Libyan-Saudi Business Council and enhanced collaboration between the Libyan Investment Authority and its Saudi counterparts. Plans include a Saudi delegation visiting Libya to evaluate investment opportunities and leveraging the Islamic Development Bank to finance strategic development projects.

The Libyan delegation also met with representatives from several other nations to expand technical and economic partnerships. Discussions with Turkey focused on advancing existing oil and gas cooperation and reviewing Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) activities. Meetings with Tunisia addressed electricity interconnection projects, including a trilateral power project involving Algeria, as well as potential solar energy collaboration. Other discussions involved officials from Germany, Pakistan, and Nigeria regarding infrastructure, refining, and renewable energy development.
