Lichinga school director detained for suspected embezzlement

Simão Capinga, the director of Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane Secondary School in Lichinga, Niassa province, has been detained on suspicion of embezzlement, abuse of office, and document falsification.

Authorities are investigating irregularities regarding the collection and management of school revenues exceeding 2.3 million meticais. During the investigation, officials seized 91,170 meticais found in the suspect's possession, including funds kept in a personal bag and a safe at his residence. The Niassa Provincial Anti-Corruption Office is leading the investigation.
