Lidl and Aldi receive top marks in German consumer studies

German retailers Lidl and Aldi have received various accolades in recent consumer studies and product tests.

In a mattress comparison conducted by Stiftung Warentest, Lidl’s Livarno Comfort Plus mattress was named a ‘Preistipp’ (price tip) with a ‘Gut’ (2.1) rating. The mattress, priced at 129 euros, was noted for providing good sleeping properties across seven different body types. The overall winner of the test was the Maxima Plus from Beco.

In a separate study by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Verbraucherstudien (DtGV) regarding private label customer satisfaction, Lidl’s ‘Unser Brot’ bakery selection was awarded ‘Best Private Label’ for the fifth consecutive time. Lidl also received awards for its ‘Gelatelli’ frozen food and ‘ESMARA’ textile brands. However, Aldi was named the overall winner of the study, securing eleven first-place rankings, particularly driven by its success in organic product categories.
