Lidl consumer product quality evaluations
Overview
Lidl consumer products have received positive evaluations from German testing organizations. In a Stiftung Warentest assessment, the ‘Livarno Comfort Plus’ foam mattress was identified as a ‘Preistipp’ (price tip), receiving a ‘Gut’ (2.1) rating and proving suitable for all seven tested body types.
Following this, Öko-Test evaluations of fruit and berry muesli highlighted Lidl’s Crownfield brand. Two products—one organic (Crownfield Bio Dinkel Hafer-Müsli Früchte-Feige) and one conventional (Crownfield Früchte Hafer-Müsli)—received the highest grade of ‘sehr gut’ (very good). The testing, which monitored for contaminants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and mold toxins, noted that these high-performing Lidl products were significantly more affordable than many competitors, with some market leaders costing nearly five times as much.
In addition to bedding and food, Lidl’s Vita D'or pure rapeseed oil received a ‘Gut’ rating for chemical quality and heat stability, alongside a ‘Sehr gut’ score in sensory testing. Furthermore, a study by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Verbraucherstudien (DtGV) regarding private label customer satisfaction awarded Lidl’s ‘Unser Brot’ bakery selection ‘Best Private Label’ for the fifth consecutive time. Lidl also received awards for its ‘Gelatelli’ frozen food and ‘ESMARA’ textile brands, though Aldi was named the overall winner of the DtGV study.
