Lidl extends non‑refillable packaging collection program in Poland to September 2026
Lidl Poland has prolonged its voluntary collection scheme for non‑refillable PET bottles and aluminium cans. The programme, which originally ended in March 2026, was first extended to June 2026 and now runs until 30 September 2026. Participants can deposit the containers in Lidl’s machines or designated points and receive a 10‑grosz voucher for each item, redeemable for future purchases. The initiative complements the national deposit system, which only covers containers marked for a statutory refund, by accepting additional packaging that would otherwise be excluded. Lidl aims to encourage recycling habits, support the broader transition to a deposit‑based model, and enhance its competitive position by offering a tangible incentive for environmentally‑friendly behaviour.
The extended deadline gives customers more time to adapt to the new waste‑handling procedures and allows Lidl to refine the logistical setup needed for large‑scale collection, including equipment that recognises and tallies returned items. By integrating the vouchers with its loyalty and sales platforms, the retailer seeks to strengthen customer loyalty while contributing to waste‑reduction goals in the Polish market.
