Lien Khuong Airport reopening boosts Da Lat tourism

The reopening of Lien Khuong International Airport in Lam Dong province has triggered a significant surge in tourism for Da Lat. Following a five-month closure for upgrades and runway rehabilitation, the airport resumed operations in mid-August, allowing for larger, modern aircraft to serve the region.

Accommodation providers in Da Lat report a 40 percent increase in bookings, a trend expected to persist throughout September. This growth coincides with Vietnam’s National Day holiday. Vietnam Airlines has responded to the demand by increasing flight frequencies to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and introducing new routes, such as the Da Lat-Can Tho connection.

Local authorities are leveraging the modernized infrastructure to expand into international markets. New routes are being established, including Da Lat-Kuala Lumpur starting September 2, with a Da Lat-Singapore connection planned for December 2026. The provincial strategy aims to position Da Lat as a premier destination for travelers from South Korea, Russia, Taiwan, and other Southeast Asian nations.
