Overview

Following test flights in late July and the official reopening on 19 August 2026, Lien Khuong International Airport now handles 36–40 daily flights serving major domestic cities and a resumed Da Lat–Kuala Lumpur service. Ticket prices of about 1 million VND from Ho Chi Minh City and 1.5 million VND from Hanoi have driven strong booking demand. Travelers have cited the convenience of the airport’s proximity to downtown Da Lat—a 35–45 minute drive—as a primary reason for the surge in bookings.

Provincial authorities target 816,000 passengers in the final four months of 2026 while seeking new links to South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Japan and Hong Kong. To support this growth, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has requested the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to invest in a new T2 passenger terminal and a cargo terminal by 2027. This expansion aims to upgrade the airport to a 4E level, targeting a capacity of 5 million passengers and 20,000 tons of cargo annually to bolster regional tourism, logistics, and high-tech agriculture.

In early August, the airport announced a fee-discount programme to spur further international connectivity. New international routes receive up to 50% off take-off, landing and ground-handling charges for the first 24 months. The incentives aim to lower operating costs and boost tourism to Vietnam’s Central Highlands. The broader Vietnamese aviation sector is also expanding ground-handling capacity, with Sun Group launching its own services at Phu Quoc Airport.
