Lien Khuong Airport Reopens, Boosting Lam Dong Tourism

The Lien Khuong International Airport in Lam Dong province resumed operations on 19 August after more than five months of closure for runway and infrastructure upgrades costing over VND 1,032 billion. The reopening restores at least six domestic routes—connecting Da Lat with Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Hai Phong and Can Tho—and re‑establishes the international Da Lat‑Kuala Lumpur service from 2 September with four weekly flights.

Airlines Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines and AirAsia will operate between 36 and 40 flights daily, targeting roughly 6,800 passengers per day, about a thousand more than before the closure. Provincial authorities plan a tourism promotion programme and aim to attract around 816,000 passengers in the last four months of 2026, while seeking new connections to South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Japan and Hong Kong.

The airport’s reopening is expected to strengthen Lam Dong’s role as a gateway to Vietnam’s Western Highlands, supporting leisure, golf, MICE and other tourism sectors.
