Lien Khuong International Airport reopens after infrastructure upgrades

Lien Khuong International Airport in Da Lat officially resumed operations on August 19 following a five-month closure for infrastructure modernization. The project, executed by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), involved an investment of over 1.032 trillion VND (approximately $39.2 million) to repair the runway, taxiways, drainage, and lighting systems.

Reopening flights included services from Vietnam Airlines connecting Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang. The airport is expected to handle between 36 and 40 flights daily, serving up to 6,800 passengers per day. Future plans include restoring connections to Can Tho and establishing international routes to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

The resumption of air travel is expected to significantly boost the tourism-dependent economy of Lam Dong province. To celebrate the reopening, the province is organizing approximately 70 cultural, sporting, and tourism promotion events leading up to the Da Lat Flower Festival. Local authorities noted that despite the airport's temporary closure, the province still welcomed 14.2 million tourists in the first seven months of the year.
