Lifestyle trends shift toward practical fashion and wellness spending

Current lifestyle trends in Indonesia show a shift toward practical fashion and a growing focus on wellness-related spending. In fashion, stylists note that micro purses are being replaced by larger barrel-shaped bags and elongated shoulder bags. Trends are moving toward softer silhouettes, such as hobo bags, and textured materials like croc-embossed leather. Color palettes are also shifting from plain black to deeper tones like burgundy, dark brown, and olive green.

Simultaneously, an active lifestyle involving sports like padel, tennis, and marathons is becoming a significant social trend among urban populations. Research by Amar Bank indicates different financial approaches to these wellness hobbies: 51.9 percent of Gen Z respondents are willing to reduce spending on socializing and coffee to fund wellness, while 52 percent of Millennials prefer to stick to a budget or delay hobbies until funds are available. Notably, 10.6 percent of Gen Z respondents reported allocating more than 20 percent of their monthly income to sports, sometimes at the expense of their savings.
