Lightning strike injures visitors at southern Sweden amusement park

On 28 June, a lightning strike hit a tree within the Toselila Somarlund amusement park in southern Sweden, injuring several visitors. A 45‑year‑old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries; two other people were taken to hospital by ambulance, while two adults and five children sought medical assistance on their own. The remaining injured reported only minor complaints.

The park had earlier evacuated guests from rides and the water‑park pool as a severe thunderstorm approached. Falling branches and debris from the struck tree wounded the nearby group. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute issued warnings for dangerous weather across large parts of southern Sweden, citing thunderstorms and heavy rain.
